What is Ben Shapiro’s net worth?

An American conservative political commentator, author, columnist, lawyer, and radio host, Ben Shapiro boasts a net worth of $50 million. His fame and wealth stem from founding The Daily Wire and his various media ventures. Across multiple platforms, he enjoys a large social media following. The Daily Wire earns slightly over $100 million annually, while its subscription streaming service, DailyWire+, has surpassed one million subscribers, each paying between $12 and $20 per month.

Early Life

Born on January 15, 1984, in Los Angeles, California, Shapiro grew up in a Conservative Jewish family with parents who both worked in Hollywood—his mother a television executive and his father a composer. A child violinist, he excelled academically, skipping both third and ninth grades. Graduating at the age of 16 in 2000 from Yeshiva University High School of Los Angeles, he subsequently enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles. At age 20, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science before attending Harvard Law School. After graduation, he worked at Goodwin Procter law firm and later established Benjamin Shapiro Legal Consulting, his own legal consultancy firm.

Career

Shapiro’s public career commenced as an author and writer, with his first nationally syndicated column debuting at 17. By 21, he had already authored two books. In his initial book, “Brainwashed: How Universities Indoctrinate America’s Youth,” he expressed his belief that American universities were intolerant toward non-left ideologies and views. His subsequent books include “Porn Generation: How Social Liberalism is Corrupting Our Future,” published in 2005, and “Project President: Bad Hair and Botox on the Road to the White House,” released in 2008. His 2011 work, “Primetime Propaganda: The True Hollywood Story of How the Left Took Over Your TV,” explores how Hollywood has propagated a left-wing agenda through television and film. In 2013, he released a fifth book critiquing leftist culture, followed by his first fiction work, “True Allegiance,” in 2017.

His sixth book, “The Right Side of History: How Reason and Moral Purpose Made the West Great,” addresses the decline of Judeo-Christian values in the U.S. In 2021, he published his seventh book, “The Authoritarian Moment.”

Alongside his writing, Shapiro took on numerous roles. In 2012, he became editor-at-large for Breitbart News, a prominent conservative news site founded by Andrew Breitbart. He stepped down from this role in 2016, citing the website’s insufficient support for Michelle Fields, a reporter allegedly assaulted by a former campaign manager of Donald Trump. Following this, Shapiro has often been targeted by the alt-right movement, facing antisemitic remarks and rhetoric.

In 2012, Shapiro kicked off his radio hosting career by joining KRLA-AM 870 as a co-host for the morning show. In 2016,

Joining KRLA’s “The Morning Answer,” a conservative radio show, he became a host. During his stint on the program, Shapiro faced backlash for not showing enough support for Donald Trump in the 2016 Presidential Election.

In 2015, Shapiro established “The Daily Wire,” where he serves as the editor emeritus and hosts his own online podcast titled “The Ben Shapiro Show.” At one point in 2019, the podcast achieved the status of the second most popular in the United States, airing daily. It became syndicated in 2018 and is broadcast across over 200 markets. Leading up to the 2018 midterm elections, Shapiro started “The Ben Shapiro Election Special” on Fox News. He frequently appears in PragerU productions to speak on subjects such as intersectionality and Hollywood’s influence.

Across his many platforms, Shapiro has gained recognition for several of his contentious opinions on social and political matters. He advocates for an absolute ban on abortion, with the sole exception being in extreme cases where the mother’s life is at stake. His stances on homosexuality, the Israel-Palestine conflict, transgender rights, and Islam have also generated controversy. Additionally, he is reluctant to acknowledge climate change’s effects and critiques the Black Lives Matter movement, asserting that systemic injustices against African Americans are nonexistent today.

Personal Life

In 2008, Shapiro wed Mor Toledano, an Israeli doctor. The couple settled in Los Angeles, California, where they welcomed four children: two daughters and two sons. They are raising their children in the Orthodox Jewish tradition. In September 2020, Shapiro moved his family to South Florida and relocated the headquarters of “The Daily Wire” from California to Nashville, Tennessee.

Due to his professional pursuits and political beliefs, Shapiro and his family have encountered numerous threats. In 2019, the FBI apprehended a man who had issued death threats against the Shapiro family. Additionally, Shapiro’s sister, an opera singer, has been subjected to antisemitic online harassment because of her association with him.

Real Estate

In 2015, Ben and Mor purchased a 6,500-square-foot residence in Valley Village, California, for $1.7 million. Later, in late 2020, Ben announced his plans to leave California for Tennessee. In October 2020, they listed their home for sale at just under $2.9 million.
