What Is Kathy Hilton’s Net Worth?

With a net worth of $350 million, Kathy Hilton, an American actress, fashion designer, and philanthropist, shares this wealth with her husband Rick Hilton, whom she married in 1979. They are widely recognized as the parents of Paris Hilton and Nicky Hilton.

Early Life

Kathy Hilton, born Kathleen Elizabeth Avanzino on March 13, 1959, in New York City, is the daughter of Kathleen Mary and Laurance K. Avanzino. Her paternal grandfather had Italian roots, and she also boasts Irish and Scottish heritage. Following her parents’ divorce, her mother remarried Kenneth E. Richards, who had three grown children from a prior marriage. Subsequently, Kathy’s mother had her half-sisters, actresses Kim and Kyle Richards. Also, from her father’s subsequent marriage, Kathy gained five paternal half-siblings. She attended a private high school in Los Angeles where she became close friends with Michael Jackson, maintaining a strong friendship until his death in 2009.

Starting her career as a child, Kathy began acting before meeting her future husband, Richard Hilton, heir to Hilton Hotels. At just 9 years old, she made her television debut in shows such as “Bewitched,” “The Rockford Files,” “Nanny and the Professor,” “Happy Days,” and “Family Affair.” Her film credits include roles in “The Dark” and “On the Air Live with Captain Midnight.” At 15, she crossed paths with Richard Hilton, around the time she decided to “retire” from acting. They wed five years later, in 1979. Throughout the ’80s and early ’90s, Kathy operated a novelty gift and antique shop named The Staircase, located on Sunset Plaza in Los Angeles.

After marrying into the Hilton family, Kathy explored a return to her showbiz roots. In 2002, she began her role as a host on the home-shopping network QVC, and three years later, she hosted the reality show “I Want to Be a Hilton” for NBC. A couple of years after, she started selling skincare products on the competing home-shopping network HSN. In 2008, she made a guest appearance on the soap opera “The Young and the Restless” as herself. Kathy featured on “The World According to Paris” in 2011. Her half-sisters, Kim and Kyle Richards, are both involved in the popular Bravo reality series “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” In 2012, Kathy expressed her unwillingness to watch her sisters on the program, as it caused her emotional distress. Although she made occasional appearances during the initial seasons of the show, regular appearances commenced in season 11. In June 2023, it was announced that Kathy would depart from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” Since 2012, she has also created the Kathy Hilton Collection of party dresses, available in four hundred stores globally, including Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Nordstrom. In December 2020, Kathy, alongside her daughters Paris and Nicky, showcased the new Valentino 2021 resort collection in “Vogue” magazine.

Personal Life

Residing in Bel Air, Kathy and her husband Richard Hilton have four adult children: sons Barron and Conrad and daughters Paris and Nicky. The couple has seven grandchildren in total; three are from Nicky and her spouse James Rothschild, two from Paris, and two from Barron. They make their home in Los Angeles’ Bel Air neighborhood.

Renowned for her charitable efforts, Hilton organized a fundraising campaign for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in 2007, encouraging celebrities to auction personal items and contribute the earnings to the cause. In 2011, alongside her two daughters, she was honored with an award from the Starlight Children’s Foundation during its “A Stellar Night” gala held in Los Angeles.

Personal Real Estate

In 1999, Kathy and Rick Hilton purchased a 7-bedroom property spanning 3 acres in Water Mill, New York, for $3.385 million. They have since rented the estate out during summer seasons for between $300,000 and $400,000. In February 2024, they put their Hamptons mansion on the market for slightly less than $15 million.

The couple acquired an apartment at New York City’s Pierre Hotel for $2.5 million in 2014. Subsequently, in 2015, they purchased a large mansion in Bel-Air for $9.2 million, only to demolish the existing structure. By September 2021, they had listed this property at $55 million, eventually accepting $25 million from Zong Qinghou, one of China’s wealthiest individuals, in January 2024.
