What Is Lil Durk’s Net Worth?

American rap artist Lil Durk has a net worth of $8 million. He established the record label Only the Family, also known as OTF. Durk gained fame after he released his series of mixtapes titled “Signed to the Streets” in 2013, which resulted in a record deal with Def Jam. He left the label in 2018 and subsequently signed with Alamo Records. Collaborations with artists like Drake and Kanye West have also featured in his career.

Early Life

Born on October 19, 1992, in Chicago, Illinois, Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk D. Banks, grew up in the challenging Englewood neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side. With his father incarcerated when Durk was merely seven months old, he recalls occasions during his upbringing when there was a scarcity of food at home.

At a young age, Durk achieved his initial success via social media platforms like MySpace and YouTube. He became a parent for the first time at 17 and decided to leave Paul Robeson High School to join a local street gang known as the Black Disciples. He subsequently faced legal issues, including multiple gun charges, ultimately pleading guilty to aggravated unauthorized use of a weapon.

Career

In 2011, Lil Durk debuted with his first mixtape. However, around the same time, he was incarcerated on weapons charges. Following a release a few months later, he devoted himself once more to his rap career by issuing his second mixtape, “I’m Still a Hitta,” in 2012. His song “Sneak Dissin’” began to attract attention, and he started guest features on tracks by artists such as Lil Reese, Fredo Santana, King Louie, and Chief Keef. Another mixtape followed in 2012.

In 2013, Durk gained broader recognition by releasing the mixtape “Signed to the Streets” and exploring guest appearances on tracks by Jim Jonez, Trae da Truth, and Chinx Drugz, among others. “Rolling Stone” acknowledged “Signed to the Streets” as one of the best mixtapes of the year, ranking it eighth. After a brief return to jail in early 2013, he was released mid-summer. He then signed with Def Jam Records, releasing his debut studio album, “Remember My Name,” in 2015, which peaked at #2 on both the US Rap and US R&B/Hip-Hop charts and secured the #14 spot on the “Billboard” 200 chart.

His second studio album, “Lil Durk 2x,” released in 2016, reached #4 on the US Rap chart, #5 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and #29 on the “Billboard” 200 chart. The single “My Beyonce” (featuring Dej Loaf) marked his highest charting success, reaching #21 on the US Rap chart. Durk has also collaborated with a variety of artists including Meek Mill, French Montana, Travi$ Scott, will.i.am, Young Thug, Boosie Badazz, RiFF RaFF, and others.

In April 2020, Durk achieved a milestone by making his first appearance on the “Billboard” Hot 100 with the single “Viral Moment” from his fifth studio album, “Just Cause Ya’ll Waited 2,” released in 2020. His commercial accomplishments continued with hits such as “3 Headed Goat,” featuring Polo G and Lil Baby, as well as “Backdoor” and “The Voice.” The collaborative album with Lil Baby, “The Voice of the Heroes,” debuted in 2021, marking his first collaborative release.

Lil Durk made his debut at the top of the “Billboard” 200 charts. In August 2021, he featured as a guest on Kanye West’s tenth studio album, “Donda.” His 2022 album, “7220,” marked his second consecutive #1 album release. Over the years, Lil Durk has garnered four Grammy nominations, clinching the Best Melodic Rap Performance award for “All My Life” (featuring J. Cole) from his 2023 album, “Almost Healed.”

Personal Life

A practicing Muslim, Lil Durk’s father, Dontay Banks Sr., is serving two life sentences without parole, the specifics of which are undisclosed. Durk is the proud father of six children, each from different mothers, named Angelo, Bella, Zayden, Du’mier, Skylar, and Willow.

In the year 2021, Lil Durk became engaged to India Royale, an Instagram model.

Tragedies

Tragedy struck when Durk’s cousin, rapper McArthur “OFT Nunu” Swindle, was murdered. The following year, in March 2015, Uchenna OTF Chino Dolla Agina, Durk’s friend and manager, was shot dead. Additionally, on November 6, 2020, King Von, a close friend of Lil Durk, was murdered in Atlanta. Another devastating event occurred on June 6, 2021, when Durk’s brother, Dontay “DThang” Banks Jr., was killed at a Chicago nightclub. Later, in July 2021, Durk experienced a home invasion during which he and his fiancé exchanged shots with the intruders, who then fled the scene, fortunately without causing any injuries.

Following his 2011 weapon charge, Lil Durk faced further legal troubles. After being released on bond, he was returned to serve an additional 87 days. On June 5, 2013, he faced another arrest on South Green Street in Chicago after allegedly tossing a loaded handgun into his vehicle when approached by the police. He was held with a $100,000 bond, with his lawyer asserting the existence of nine witness affidavits that supported Durk’s innocence; one witness even confessed that the gun belonged to him. Durk was released in July 2013.

Hours before a concert scheduled at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in September 2015, a shootout occurred that left one man dead and caused damage to Lil Durk’s tour bus from gunfire. Reportedly, Durk was uninvolved and did not face arrest or questioning by law enforcement. In August 2016, he was arrested on felony gun charges; however, the judge dismissed the charges, allowing Durk to return home.

In June 2019, Durk and King Von were apprehended on attempted murder charges, accused by prosecutors of robbing and shooting a man outside a busy Atlanta drive-in over a Jeep Cherokee and $30,000. After spending several weeks in jail, both were released on bonds of $250,000 and $300,000. By October 2022, the charges against them were dismissed.
