Diddy Net Worth (Money & Salary)
the environment was different, offering more opportunities for success. Sean attended Mount Vernon High School, where he excelled in sports and earned a football scholarship to Howard University. He studied business but left after two years to pursue a career in music.
Rise to Fame
After moving to New York City, Sean secured an internship at Uptown Records, where he eventually became a talent director. His work at the label led him to discover and manage The Notorious B.I.G., who would become a significant force in the hip-hop industry. In 1993, he founded his own label, Bad Boy Entertainment, and released the debut album for The Notorious B.I.G., “Ready to Die,” which was a major hit and established Diddy as a prominent figure in music.
Business Ventures
Beyond music, Diddy has explored numerous business endeavors. His clothing line, Sean John, received accolades, including the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America award. Additionally, he has ventured into the restaurant business, launched a line of perfumes, and produced reality television shows. His entrepreneurial spirit has significantly contributed to his wealth and influence in the industry.
Personal Life
Diddy has been linked romantically to several high-profile celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez and Cassie Ventura. He is also a father to six children, from three different relationships. Despite his fame and fortune, Diddy has faced challenges, including legal issues and public controversies, which have kept him in the spotlight.
Graduating from the prestigious Mount Saint Michael Academy, Sean moved on to study business at Howard University in Washington, D.C.
While he attended Howard, Combs secured an unpaid internship at Uptown Records in New York City. He obtained the position through rapper Heavy D, a connection made back in Mount Vernon. To facilitate his internship, he adjusted his class schedule, allowing him to commute to New York City by train several days a week while still attending classes at Howard. Every Thursday at 5 a.m., Diddy would catch a train to New York to arrive for work by 10 a.m., then he would return to D.C. on Friday nights to promote parties throughout the weekend. By his sophomore year, he recognized that his ambitions were leaning more towards career pursuits than academic achievements, prompting him to leave Howard and accept a full-time role at Uptown Records. Just 22 years old, he quickly ascended to the position of Vice President within two years.
During his tenure at Uptown, he played a pivotal role in developing artists such as Jodeci and Mary J. Blige. After being dismissed from Uptown in 1993, Combs founded his own label, Bad Boy Entertainment, forming a joint venture with Arista Records.

Bad Boy Records
In 1991, Combs encountered a significant career obstacle when he organized a celebrity basketball game to benefit AIDS research, set to be held at the City College of New York’s gym. The event, featuring numerous popular artists, faced overwhelming demand with tickets selling out, leading to a situation where people were banging on the gym doors to gain entry. Tragically, a stampede ensued, resulting in nine fatalities and 29 serious injuries. Despite the chaos, no criminal charges were brought forward. Diddy compensated the victims with an undisclosed amount and subsequently lost his position at Uptown Records.
In 1994, Diddy launched his own label, Bad Boy Records. Shortly after, rising rapper The Notorious B.I.G. made the switch from Uptown to Bad Boy. Both The Notorious B.I.G. and Craig Mack released chart-topping singles, which resulted in Combs signing several more artists, including Carl Thomas, Faith Evans, 112, Total, and Father MC. He also established an in-house production team called The Hitmen, collaborating with popular artists like Jodeci, Usher, Lil’ Kim, TLC, Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, and Aretha Franklin. The mid-1990s witnessed a high-profile rivalry between Bad Boy and Death Row Records on the West Coast, with both Combs and The Notorious B.I.G. facing criticism and satire from rapper Tupac Shakur.
Beyond his success as a record executive and producer, Combs has also carved out a prosperous solo music career as a recording artist. Under the stage name Puff Daddy, he released his first notable work as a rapper in 1997. His debut single, “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down,” reached #1 on the “Billboard” Hot 100 chart and maintained its position for 28 weeks. Following this, he launched his debut studio album, “No Way Out,” in July 2017. Initially titled “Hell up in Harlem,” he made multiple adjustments after the tragic death of The Notorious B.I.G. in March of that year. The album proved highly successful, earning Combs five Grammy nominations in 1998, including the Grammy Award for Best Rap.
He has put out three additional albums: “Forever” (1999), “The Saga Continues…” (2001), and “Press Play” (2006). For 2023, Diddy announced the release of a new album and has dropped two singles from it titled “Gotta Move On” and “Sex in the Porsche.”
In 2001, the artist changed his stage name from “Puff Daddy” to “P. Diddy,” and subsequently in 2005, he simplified it further to just “Diddy.” In November 2005, Richard Dearlove, a London-based performer who had been using the name “Diddy” since 1992, pursued an injunction against Combs in the High Court of Justice in London. An out-of-court settlement was reached for £10,000 in damages and over £100,000 in costs, which resulted in Combs being unable to use the name “Diddy” in the UK, keeping him known there as “P. Diddy.”

In 2004, he was recognized as Menswear Designer of the Year. Additionally, he serves as the head of Combs Enterprises, the umbrella organization that encompasses his business ventures. Beyond his clothing line, Combs played a significant role in developing the Ciroc vodka brand, earning 50 percent of the profits, maintains a substantial equity stake in Revolt TV, and acquired a majority stake in the beverage company Aquahydrate, partnering with actor Mark Wahlberg and businessman Ronald Burkle.
Diddy made a noteworthy investment in PlayVS in 2019, a company that offers infrastructure for competitive gaming in high schools across the United States.
Personal Life
Fathering seven children, Combs welcomed his first biological child in 1993, with designer Misa Hylton-Brim. His relationship with Kimberly Porter spanned from 1994 to 2007, during which they had a son and twin daughters; he also adopted Porter’s son from a previous relationship. Following Porter’s passing from pneumonia in November 2018, Combs had a daughter with Sarah Chapman, for whom he took legal responsibility in October 2007. He was in a long-term relationship with Cassie Ventura from 2007 to 2018. Dana Tran gave birth to his seventh child, a daughter, in October 2022.
Combs has faced multiple legal challenges. In December 1999, while at Club New York in Manhattan with then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez, a shooting incident occurred. As a result, Combs and fellow rapper Shyne were arrested following a police investigation into weapons violations. Combs was ultimately charged with four weapons-related offenses and bribery for persuading his driver to claim ownership of his gun, leading to a highly publicized trial. Additionally, in 2001, he was detained for driving with a suspended license in Florida.
Rape Allegations & 2024 Arrest
In November 2023, Diddy’s former long-term girlfriend Cassie accused him of raping her and subjecting her to years of physical and emotional abuse. Among the disturbing allegations, Cassie stated that he coerced her into participating in sexual acts with a series of male prostitutes while he recorded them. She also claimed that Diddy raped her after she attempted to end their relationship in 2018. In response to these allegations, Diddy, through a lawyer, asserted that Cassie was merely attempting to gain financial compensation, pointing out that she had previously sought a $30 million payout to remain silent. Within approximately 24 hours of the allegations surfacing, Diddy and Cassie came to a private settlement.
Regrettably for Diddy, shortly after Cassie’s allegations became public, two additional women accused him of rape. One accusation came from a woman who alleged that he raped her in 1991 while she attended Syracuse University, claiming that Diddy had recorded the encounter and subsequently shared it with other men. The alleged incident purportedly resulted in “substantial and lifetime injuries” for the accuser.
Following these further accusations, on November 28, 2023, Diddy announced his resignation as Chairman of his cable TV network, Revolt TV.
On September 16, 2024, federal agents arrested Diddy in New York City. He faced multiple charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for the purpose of prostitution. He denied the charges and entered a plea of not guilty on September 17, 2024.

Real Estate
In 1998, a purchase of $2.45 million was made by Diddy for a residence in East Hampton, where he famously hosted his annual “White Party.” Occasionally, he rented this property at rates as high as $200,000 per month. Ultimately, he sold it in 2020 for $4.7 million. In 2003, he acquired a three-bedroom apartment in New York City for $3.82 million, which he later sold in 2017 for $5.7 million.
A $4 million estate in Alpine, New Jersey, was purchased by Diddy in 2004, which he attempted to sell for $9 million in 2007, but it did not attract buyers. He eventually sold it in 2016 for $5.5 million.
In September 2014, Diddy made a significant investment of $39 million for a mansion spanning 17,000 square feet in the upscale Los Angeles neighborhood of Holmby Hills. Records indicate he has taken out mortgages totaling $25.35 million through two transactions, one occurring in 2014 and another in 2021, both with Bank of America. The residence was constructed by developer Nile Niami. Diddy’s Beverly Hills mansion features a pool with an underwater tunnel leading to a grotto, along with eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a 35-seat cinema, a steam room, a massage room, a beauty salon, and a wine room. Its proximity to the Playboy Mansion is noteworthy. In September 2024, Diddy listed this property for $61.5 million.

Diddy acquired a mansion on the outskirts of Atlanta in October 2003 for $2.6 million, which saw little occupancy during his ownership, leading to its sale in 2007 for $1.3 million. In 2009, he purchased a home for Kim Porter, with whom he shares several children, for $5.25 million. Unfortunately, Kim passed away in 2018. This Toluca Lake residence was sold by him in 2022 for $6.5 million.
In 2003, he bought Tommy Mottola’s mansion located on Star Island in Miami, which comes with a $14.5 million mortgage attached to the nine-bedroom waterfront property. Additionally, in August 2021, Diddy made a $35 million acquisition of the adjacent property from sellers Gloria and Emilio Estefan. This estate sits on 1.3 acres and boasts 240 feet of water frontage. Below is the mansion he purchased in 2021:
