What is Rick Harrison’s net worth?
With a net worth of $9 million, Rick Harrison stands out as an American entrepreneur and reality TV personality. He belongs to the Harrison family, which operates the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The family’s fame primarily stems from the reality series “Pawn Stars,” which showcases the quirky events and happenings that occur within the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop.
Early Life
Born on March 22, 1965, in Lexington, North Carolina, Richard Kevin Harrison is the son of Richard Benjamin Harrison Jr. and Joanne Harrison and is the third child in his family. He had an older sister named Sherry, who tragically passed away at six, along with an older brother, Joseph, and a younger brother, Chris. His father served in the U.S. Navy. When Harrison turned two, the family moved to San Diego due to his father’s military transfer. Harrison began experiencing epileptic seizures at the age of eight, which often confined him to bed and fostered a deep appreciation for reading. He attended Taft Middle School in San Diego but left during his sophomore year to pursue his “business of selling fake Gucci bags” which earned him $2,000 a week. In April 1981, the Harrison family relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Career
After the family established themselves in Las Vegas, Harrison’s father launched their first secondhand store in 1981. The original Gold & Silver Coin Shop was a modest 300-square-foot space on Las Vegas Boulevard. During the day, Harrison assisted in his father’s store, while at night he worked as a car repossessor. In 1986, the store expanded to a larger location in downtown Las Vegas. However, in 1988, they lost their lease on that property. Following that, they moved to another commercial space along Las Vegas Boulevard. For years, Harrison and his father envisioned transforming the coin shop into a pawnshop, which they felt was a natural progression for their business. Despite this, a Las Vegas law dating back to 1955 posed challenges, as it restricted new pawn shop licenses based on the city’s population. By 1988, Las Vegas’ metro area population surpassed 640,000. To secure one of the rare pawn licenses, Harrison diligently contacted the city’s statistician weekly, ready to apply as soon as the population reached the next threshold. This opportunity arose in 1989 when the Harrison family was granted their pawn license, leading to the opening of the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop close to the Las Vegas Strip. They co-managed the shop until his father’s passing in 2018.
By 2005, the Harrisons were lending approximately $3 million annually, generating about $700,000 in income from the interest on these loans. By 2006, the pawnshop gained notable recognition for its unique sports memorabilia and became a popular spot for gamblers needing to pawn possessions to gather funds for their return journeys.
Harrison devoted four years to advocating for a television series centered around his pawnshop following its feature in a 2001 PBS documentary and the well-known Comedy Central show Insomniac with Dave Attell in 2003. The concept circulated through HBO and YouTube before the History Channel took notice, ultimately leading to the creation of Pawn Stars, which has become the highest-rated show on the network. Debuting in July 2009, Pawn Stars has aired for 21 seasons and 633 episodes as of June 2023, solidifying its position as the most popular show on The History Channel. Its immense popularity has led the History Channel to renew the series in extensive batches of 80 episodes, a practice that’s quite rare.
for any television series, especially a reality show.
Currently, Corey Harrison, Rick’s son, also plays a role in the store and appears on the show alongside his longtime friend Austin “Chumlee” Russell. Rick, known as “The Spotter” on the show, has earned this nickname due to his sharp eye for recognizing undervalued items.

Personal Life
At the age of 17, Harrison’s girlfriend Kim became pregnant. Although they experienced a miscarriage, they chose to wed. Their first child, Corey, entered the world on April 27, 1983. Two years later, their second son, Adam, was born. Shortly after Adam’s arrival, Harrison and Kim parted ways.
Nine months later, during a blind double date, Harrison met Tracy, who would become his second wife. They began living together after six months of dating and married eight months later, taking on the responsibilities of raising Corey and Adam together. Eventually, they divorced.
Rick Harrison, who has been divorced twice, announced his engagement in 2012 to Deanna Burditt, who also had been divorced twice. The couple wed on July 21, 2013, in Laguna Beach, California, but divorced in September 2020. In 2021, Harrison tied the knot with Amanda Palmer.
Expressing a passion for politics, Rick Harrison contemplated a run for the governorship of Nevada in 2022 and is now considering a Senate run for the U.S. in 2024.
Lawsuit
Following the passing of Richard Harrison, widely known as “The Old Man,” in 2018, Rick’s mother, Joanne, initiated a lawsuit regarding family assets and the ownership of their Las Vegas pawn shop. The lawsuit claims that while she was hospitalized in 2000/2001, Rick had her sign away her 51% stake in the business. It alleges that upon Richard’s death in 2018, Joanne inherited his 49% share of the pawn shop, yet Rick allegedly has not provided her with complete financial documentation. Joanne asserts that she has been unable to receive a proper accounting of over $500,000 in cash and silver she believes her husband acquired before passing. Joanne Harrison is seeking unspecified damages, a full accounting of assets, and a court injunction to prevent Rick Harrison from using her funds, along with a “constructive trust” on her property.
Real Estate
In 2019, Harrison put his Red Rock Country Clubhouse in Summerlin, Las Vegas, on the market for $3.99 million. This 8,845-square-foot house, constructed in 2001, was purchased by him in 2016, and he invested around $600,000 in renovations. The elegant flooring in the formal sitting area comprises granite that is acid-washed, shaped into planks, and arranged like a hardwood floor, costing $45,000. The residence includes two bedrooms on the lower floor and another two upper-level ones, along with a gym that can double as a bedroom. The home offers seven bathrooms, a 12-seat cinema with a 150-inch screen, complete with a curtain. A wine cellar can accommodate over 1,000 bottles, and the property features an elevator along with a centralized sound system allowing music to play in any room via a phone.
The front of the house showcases sweeping views of Red Rock Canyon’s Spring Mountains, while the backyard provides a breathtaking outlook of the Strip and the Arroyo Golf Club. A game room upstairs features a balcony at the rear, and the outdoor area includes a lagoon-style pool, elevated spa, and an entrance to the golf course. A 10-foot waterfall and a lazy river lead directly into the pool. Additionally, the backyard comes equipped with an outdoor kitchen. Harrison selected this neighborhood because his children attended high school in the vicinity; however, with the kids now grown, the excess space is no longer necessary.
